BUILT AROUND THE CENTRE

IT support for childcare
and early learning

Dependable access, connected centres and technology that works around the day.

Technology should fit around the centre, not compete with it

A childcare service can’t stop the room while someone spends an hour on the phone to an IT provider. When a device, account or connection fails, the people dealing with it are usually balancing administration with the needs of children, families and educators.

Childcare and early learning providers carry an unusual mix of work. Family communication, enrolment details, staff records, rosters and centre administration sit beside a busy physical environment. Devices are often shared across rooms. People move between the floor and the office. Arrival and collection create predictable periods when access, phones and internet connections matter at the same time.

The technology needs to respect that rhythm and stay simple for the people using it.

WHERE IT SHOWS UP IN PRACTICE

The working day
sets the priorities.

01

Arrival and collection

The device at the entrance is not just another shared tablet. Families use it while educators confirm who has arrived, who is expected and who is authorised to collect each child. If it or the connection fails at the door, staff need a clear fallback that keeps the entrance moving without losing the record they rely on.

02

Shared devices

A tablet or workstation may be used by several educators across a day, while the information available through it still needs clear access. One shared password is easy until someone leaves, a device goes missing or nobody can tell which account changed a record.

03

Staff changes

A new educator may need access to communication, files and centre systems without seeing information outside their role. When someone leaves, access needs to close across every account and device rather than depending on a list that only one person knows.

04

Continuity for the centre

If internet, phones or core systems are unavailable, the centre still needs a practical way to communicate and keep administration moving. Recovery priorities need to reflect what staff must use first, not simply which system is easiest to bring back.

HOW WE WORK WITH CHILDCARE & EARLY LEARNING PROVIDERS

Technology that follows the centre’s rhythm.

Managed IT Services covers daily support, device maintenance and staff changes. Microsoft 365 supports email, files and access. Cyber Security & Compliance strengthens accounts and devices, while Business Internet & Networks keeps the centre connected. Backup & Disaster Recovery keeps recovery tied to the systems the service needs to operate.

Infrastructure, communications and security stay with one Supportdesk team. We can act as the provider’s IT department or work alongside an internal team across several centres.

Our responsibility

Your organisation and advisers set the privacy, safeguarding and operational requirements for each service. Our responsibility is making sure the technology underneath supports those requirements and the way the centre works.

WORTH A CONVERSATION

Keep the focus on the centre.

If technology stays out of the way, keep it. If educators are becoming the first line of IT support, shared access is difficult to control, or each centre handles the same problem differently, the setup underneath is worth reviewing.
