BUILT AROUND THE COMPLETE CLIENT RECORD

IT support for accounting firms

Protect client confidentiality, preserve the working record and keep the firm dependable through lodgement periods.

You should not have to explain accounting work to your IT provider

Restoring a mailbox does not fix a missing client instruction or an incomplete job record. An accounting firm should not have to explain why access, record integrity and timing matter beyond the immediate fault.

Accounting firms hold client financial information, identity verification, authorities to act, working papers and advice. Tax, practice-management and document systems often hold different parts of the same job. Some work also brings additional customer checks and reporting responsibilities.

WHERE IT SHOWS UP IN PRACTICE

One client job.
Several connected records.

01

Access that follows the role

A team member may work across related clients, move teams or need temporary access during a busy period. Access needs to reflect that role and disappear when it changes.

02

Reopening the complete job

The final return is the easy part. Client instructions, working papers, correspondence and advice may sit across a mailbox, portal, folder and someone’s memory. Backing up those systems does not make the client file complete.

03

Lodgement-period demand

A tax application may behave normally for most of the year and slow when preparers lodge returns and process year-end payroll together. A delay too small for a support ticket can repeat across every job.

04

Authorities and client information

Client information moves through email, portals, accounting platforms and identity verification services. An authority to act sent through the wrong account can create a confidentiality problem while the tax application works normally.

THE WHOLE WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The practice system is not the whole firm.

Some accounting IT providers started by implementing tax or practice-management software, then added broader support. That product knowledge matters when the fault is inside the application.

The firm also depends on identity, email, devices, networks, telephony and backup. Supportdesk owns those connected parts and works with the software vendor when needed.

Most of what goes wrong in an accounting firm was never about the tax or practice-management application at all.

HOW WE WORK WITH ACCOUNTING FIRMS

One team stays with the complete job record.

Through Managed IT Services, Supportdesk takes on support, maintenance and access changes. We manage Microsoft 365 for email and working papers, with account and device protection through Cyber Security & Compliance.

Backup & Disaster Recovery is planned around complete client records. Office connections and remote access remain part of the same responsibility through Business Internet & Networks.

Our responsibility

Your firm and its advisers decide the professional, reporting and record-keeping requirements that apply. Our responsibility is making the technology follow those decisions and preserve the access, information and evidence you rely on.

WORTH A CONVERSATION

Can the firm reopen the whole job?

Think about the last completed job that needed to be reopened. If the full instruction, working record and advice could only be assembled by asking the person who handled it, that is a useful place to begin the conversation.
